About ToolsBay

ToolsBay is 70 free utilities that convert, format, inspect and generate the files and text people deal with every day — and every one of them does its work inside your own browser.

Who runs it

ToolsBay is made and run by Adarsh Bora, based in India. Bug reports and tool requests sent to the address at the foot of this page reach the person who wrote the code.

Why it works this way

The usual way to build these tools is to accept an upload, do the work on a server, and hand back a result. That is simpler to build, and it means a stranger’s machine briefly holds your contract, your passport scan or your production database dump. Most sites in this category promise to delete it afterwards. Some say within an hour.

ToolsBay does not make that promise, because it does not need to. There is no server to delete anything from. The site is a set of static files served from a CDN, and the conversion code runs on your own processor. The security policy this site serves lets a page connect only to this site, the Open-Meteo weather API, Google Analytics and Cloudflare Web Analytics. None of those accepts a file, so a file cannot be uploaded from here — not because we choose not to, but because there is nowhere for it to go and the browser is instructed to refuse anywhere else.

You do not have to take our word for it

A privacy claim you cannot check is just a sentence. The policy that enforces this one is served in a response header on every page, so anyone can read it in one command or watch the network tab during a conversion. Here is how to verify it yourself, including the exact command and what a passing result looks like.

The one exception

The weather dashboard needs live data, so it sends the place you search for, and then that place’s coordinates, to Open-Meteo, a free open-source weather API, which also sees your IP address. It is the only tool that uses the network, its API is named in the security policy, and the tool says so on its own page. Everything else — every PDF, image, spreadsheet and block of text — stays on your device. The Privacy Policy sets out what the site measures, which is page views and which tools get used, never what you put into them.

How tools get added, and removed

A tool ships here only if it produces a result you can actually rely on. Four converters were built and then deleted rather than launched — PDF to Excel, PDF to CSV, PDF to PowerPoint and PowerPoint to PDF — because reliable table extraction from a PDF needs layout analysis this site could not do reliably in a browser, and a converter that returns a column of jumbled text wastes your time twice over. The count is not the point. Where a tool has a real limit, it says so: a scanned PDF has no text to extract, and the tools that hit that tell you instead of handing back an empty file.

The sister site

Adarsh Bora also builds ShipMargin, a set of free calculators for shipping, customs and marketplace economics — chargeable weight, import duty, landed cost and seller margin. It exists because the tools here are often the second half of someone’s job: if you are merging a commercial invoice into a customs pack, or compressing photos for a product listing, the numbers behind that shipment are what ShipMargin works out. Same person, same approach.
